Claude Sarrailh

Claude Sarrailh joined Ahold Delhaize on September 1, 2024 as Executive Vice President and started as Chief Executive Officer Europe and Indonesia on October 1, 2024.

Before joining Ahold Delhaize, Claude served as a member of the Management Board and held the position of Chief Customer and Merchandise Officer at Metro Group in Dusseldorf, Germany.

With over 25 years’ experience in retail, Claude is a well-rounded executive with a broad international track record and a passion for retail, customer innovation and people. He brings extensive commercial experience in the food industry and a wealth of knowledge when it comes to leading teams and transformation strategies. He has a broad international background with deep expertise in areas such as sourcing, digital and omnichannel retail business.

He has spent much time leading a variety of group functions including retail, digital, wholesale and food service across multiple geographies and served as Chief Executive Officer for Metro in Italy and China, and has had several procurement roles in amongst others in Romania and Russia. Claude is also passionate about building commercial and strategic capabilities, developing people, and creating inclusive and results-focused cultures.

Before joining Metro Group in 2006, Claude worked for Carrefour and Banque Herve.
