Vijay Badrinarayanan

Vijay Badrinarayanan leads AI strategy & development for Wayve, where he focuses on the science & development behind Wayve's cutting edge AI stack for AVs and embodied AI. He has led AI at Wayve from its formative years to it current form, developing foundation & world models powering the next generation of efficient, safe, and performant AI for AVs. He was previously the Director of Deep Learning & AI at Magic Leap Inc. where he led teams that developed the world's first generation of embedded deep neural networks for mixed reality headsets. His early work on developing the highly cited SegNet encoder-decoder architecture for segmentation paved the way to many more advances in the post-AlexNet era of AI models. He completed his PhD in Computer Vision from INRIA, Rennes and conducted his post doctoral work at the University of Cambridge, UK.
